Private or group sound bath: which format suits you?
A private session offers more space to discuss your preferences. A group sound bath shares one session among several participants. Choose the format around comfort, access, budget and the kind of experience you want.

When a private session may fit
Consider a private appointment if you want to discuss the pacing, instrument mix, seating or level of spoken guidance in more detail. You can ask how much the provider can adapt and what remains part of their usual format.
Private does not mean a guaranteed outcome or unlimited customisation. Ask about the available duration, whether a companion can attend and what information the facilitator needs beforehand. Clarify consent and whether the session is entirely listening-based.
When a group session may fit
A group sound bath can suit someone who enjoys a shared atmosphere and a set schedule. You may have less choice over the overall pace, but you can still ask about seating, distance from instruments and how to take a break.
Ask how many places are available and whether the room is arranged so people can move comfortably. Check whether you are booking a listening event or a hands-on workshop, since the word “group” does not distinguish between them.
Compare the whole booking
Compare the quoted price with what is actually included: session length, venue, equipment, preparation and any follow-up. For a couple or a small private group, ask whether the fee is per person or for the whole appointment.
Confirm cancellation and rescheduling terms before paying. If a provider travels to your location, ask about travel fees, room requirements and whether your proposed venue is suitable. An initial lower quote may exclude these arrangements.
Use a simple decision rule
Write down three priorities before enquiring. For example: chair seating, a quiet room and a session without much spoken guidance. Send those preferences to the provider and ask which format they recommend, rather than choosing only by the event title.
You can begin with a group introduction and later book privately, or start privately if you want more discussion. Neither route is a requirement. The useful question is whether the actual arrangements meet your needs.
Are private sessions always better than a group sound bath?
No. Private sessions offer a different level of discussion and scheduling, while a shared event may be the setting you prefer. Compare the actual arrangements.
